Oh hey! It’s an exciting week for me this week. Despite the shit show (no other way to describe it, sorry) that is trying to juggle working from home with kids home on school holidays, I am excited for what’s to come in my business. What’s felt like years of hustle and trying to make it all work around family life (kids + school runs + sports + meal prep + utter exhaustion while trying to look after myself enough so that I don’t lose my mind…again) my business is starting to manifest into exactly what I dreamed it would be. It sounds all mysterious I know, but when I can share more details I definitely will.
Even where I am today in my business compared to where I started - what I was manifesting when I first started my business 7 years ago has already come to pass - a large following, a website filled with delicious recipes, confidence in my food photography, steady income streams and brands wanting to work with me. But the big-it-feels-like-it-will-never-happen-goals are feeling much closer and more in reach now than ever.
I don’t have any recommendations for you this week as I am still stuck on Grey’s Anatomy (I can’t believe I’ve been watching Grey’s for the last nearly 20 years!!) and Atomic Habits. Sorry! But if you have any recommendations for books, shows, restaurants etc please share them in the comments!
Oh but I do have a restaurant recommendation for you! I forgot to take any decent photos but we went to Yoko at the Howard Smith Wharves for dinner the other night for my birthday and it was amazing! If you love Japanese food with a modern take then this is your cup of tea. The Miso Glazed Eggplant was by far the best eggplant I’ve ever eaten, ever! If you’re a Brisbane local then you need to try it!
This week I’m digging into the recipe archives and reviving some of my old faithfuls. These are recipes that I make time and time again for myself and my family.
What’s Cooking This Week
Golden Cauliflower Chickpea Salad
The beauty of this salad is that it can be meal prepped for delicious weekday lunches but it’s also fancy enough to make for a gathering or bbq.
This is the my families absolute favourite way to eat salmon. No-one ever complains when I make my salmon poke bowls, they are absolutely delicious!
This cauliflower & leek based soup is creamy and flavoursome. It’s a hug in a bowl and perfect for a cool night. Don’t skip out on the crispy sage leaves either because they are *chef’s kiss.
Because I love me a little treaty-treat. Everyone on social media is talking about treat culture and I’m here for it, now and always. These Anzac Cookies are gluten free and refined sugar free but still delicious!
Overnight Oats With Protein Powder
When you’re feeling like overnight oats but you also want to meet your daily protein requirements, these overnight oats with protein powder are it! And you need to read this post because some protein powders added to overnight oats just don’t work, so if you want the down low on which protein powders to use in overnight oats then I got you!
This is the best recipe if you have run out of milk but you’re craving overnight oats. In this post I give you four different ways to make overnight oats without milk and they’re all delicious!
Enjoy!
